Download festival have announced that they have named the main stage after the late Stephen Sutton at this year's event - in tribute to his amazing charity work and his love of rock music.
Sutton died tragically of cancer last week, after helping to raise millions through an online campaign. Download even rewarded Sutton by helping off tick something off his bucket list by giving him a ticket to this year's Download festival. Sadly, he died before he could make it to the Donington event which takes place next month:
Now, Download have announced that the Stephen Sutton Stage would be the ultimate tribute to him next month. Taking to their official Facebook page, they wrote:
"At Download HQ, we were very sad to hear about Stephen Sutton's passing last week. For those that don't know, Download Festival was one of the things on Stephen's bucket list and we were honoured to invite him along and have him with us at the festival last year.
"In recognition of his epic fundraising efforts and for being an inspiration to us all, after speaking to his family, we've decided to name the main stage the Stephen Sutton Stage at this year’s festival. We’ll also be helping to keep the fund raising going at Download too.
"Rock in Peace Stephen."
Earlier today, Download also unveiled the stage times for this year's festival.
Download Festival 2014 will take place at Donington Park from Friday 13 - Sunday 15 June. Tickets are on sale now. For more information visit Gigwise gig tickets.
