PIAS records is currently celebrating 30 years in the music business, having launched the careers of the likes of Soulwax, Crystal Castles, Mogwai, Dinosaur JR and many more.
The record label was founded in 1982 by Kenny Gates, who began importing and selling British records to Belgium under the title of Play It Again Sam. His business has gone on to become one of the biggest independent record labels on the planet in the three decades since.
"It’s great to be able to celebrate our achievements over the past 30 years," says the company's managing director Pete Thompson. "But we’re also looking forward to 2013. I think [PIAS] Recordings’ 31st year could well be its most important yet, with key releases from Agnes Obel, Ghostpoet, Soulwax and Editors. What a way to start the next 30 years!"
To celebrate the label's 30 years in music, PIAS has re-released a number of its classic albums on vinyl, and we have teamed up with the label to offer Gigwise readers five classics from the label's back catalogue.
