Foo Fighters, 'Rope': Review

Dave Grohl was right when he said that the new Foo Fighters record would be a return to the band's heavier sound. After a nearly a four year break the Foo Fighters revealed their new single 'Rope' today – and it's a massive sound for an undoubtedly massive album.

2007's 'Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace' certainly would be a tricky one to follow, an album that provided the band with a huge following and allowed them to cement their status as one of rocks leading heavyweights. Lead single 'Rope' blows all that clear out of the water.

Released this morning on the band's website official website, the first single from the Foo Fighters' new album 'Wasting Light' sees Grohl and co take inspiration from their earlier albums.

Hooking up with former Nirvana producer Butch Vig has pushed both vocals and sound to another level. Drenched in full-on guitar riffs and drums, 'Rope' incorporates a range of vocal harmonies that fit perfectly with the stadium rock sound that Foo Fighters fans have come to love.

Recorded in a garage, 'Rope' will certainly get any Foo Fighters fan excited for what's around the corner.
