    San Cisco: In Demand!

The indie-pop band making waves down under

April 13, 2012 by Jamie Cockburn

San Cisco are an Australian indie pop four-piece who are making a lot of noise down under at the moment.

Australia is a massive breeding ground for music at the moment producing the likes of Strange Talk, Bleeding Knees Club and Gotye in recent years and to stand out from among the rest is a big achievement.

The band, who consist of Jordi Davieson (guitar, lead vocals), Josh Biondillo (guitar, vocals), Nick Gardner (bass), and Scarlett Stevens (drums, vocals) rose through Aussie radio station Triple J’s unearthed project (similar to Radio One’s Introducing) where they were nominated for the 2011 Unearthed J Award. The award eventually went to the equally impressive Ball Park Music, but that hasn't halted San Cisco's rise to greatness.

San Cisco’s track ‘Awkward’ received a lot notice around Australia and even found some popularity in the US. It featured at number 7 in Triple J’s Hottest 100 which led them to be covered in Rolling Stone magazine’s ones to watch. ‘Awkward’ also featured in our very prestigious 50 essential tracks of 2012.

The band has recently released a new E.P named after their breakthrough song ‘Awkward’ which contains a cover of Arctic Monkeys '505'. ‘Rocket Ship’ which also features on the E.P is set to become another hit for the Fremantle band with it already receiving a fair amount of air time on Australian radio.

San Cisco are definitely a band to keep your eye on in the near future and their Awkward E.P is available to download from iTunes here. Listen to their latest song ‘Rocket Ship’ from the Awkward E.P below.
