Crystal Castles' Ethan Kath has disputed claims that he was "throwing shade" at former bandmate Alice Glass in a recently deleted statement, saying, "I meant no harm to her... I'll always love her."

Last week, Crystal Castles’ Ethan Kath shared ‘Frail’, the first new song since Alice Glass quit the band last year.

Along with the track, he also posted (and later deleted) a statement to his Facebook page regarding Glass and her departure from the band. It read:

"I wish my former vocalist the best of luck in her future endeavors. i think it can be empowering for her to be in charge of her own project. it should be rewarding for her considering she didn't appear on Crystal Castles' best known songs. (she's not on Untrust Us. Not In Love, Vanished, Crimewave, Vietnam, Magic Spells, Knights, Air War, Leni, Lovers Who Uncover, Violent Youth, Reckless, Year of Silence, Intimate, 1991, Good Time, Violent Dreams etc.). people often gave her credit for my lyrics and that was fine, i didn't care."

Glass subsequently took to Twitter to respond to his comments, which he has since deleted.

In a new interview with Pitchfork, Kath explained, "When I realized it came off as shade, I pulled it because I have no desire to throw any shade, I really do wish her the best."

When asked why he made the statement in the first place, Kath said, "I meant no harm to her, I was referring to her recent statements in i-D magazine that she left the band so she can finally 'be herself'" she was 'living a lie' in CC and she was ready to own her own darkness.'

"I didn't belittle her or make any derogatory comments, I was acknowledging what she had already said herself. I wished her the best because despite everything, I'll always love her and sincerely want her to do well and be happy. "

As for the female vocals on new song 'Frail', Kath would only say that it's "a girl named Edith."
