Nas announces new album during Orlando gig

The LP is set to drop over the summer

Nas has announced a new album during a live show in Orlando over the weekend, which is set to drop summer 2015.

The forthcoming release will be his 12th studio album following 2012's Life Is Good and will be the MC's first album in three years. He has recently collaborated with Jay Z, Wiz Khalifa, Madonna and Schoolboy Q.

The album  follows the critically acclaimed documentary Nas: Time Is Illmatic and also Nas launching his own indepedent Mass Appeal records last year. As Billboard reports, Nas revealed last October that he was wrapping up his final album on Def Jam. "Finished up my new album/ Single about to be dropping/ Last album on Def Jam and I got so many options." 

Nas told the Orlando crowd: "2015, new album this summer". You can watch footage of the seemingly impromptu announcement below:

Nas announced a rare string of UK dates which can be seen below, tickets are available here. The rapper will also be playing Rudimental and Disclosure's Wild Life festival on the weekend of 6-7 June. Nas will play
