Yesterday, the BBC finally revealed their Sound Of 2016 longlist - and it included the likes of Alessia Cara, Blossoms, Rat Boy and Jack Garratt. But what if the list were determined by Google search counts, social media metrics and streaming volumes?

Google Play Music have compiled just such a list, and published their own 2016 Ones To Watch list. It also takes into account "expert insight from members of the platform's music team" - so it's not entirely objective.

There's some overlap between the two - Frances and Jack Garratt are on both, for example - but there are also a few people on Google's list who felt should have been on the BBC's one. The most notable examples of this are Aurora, the Norwegian singer responsible for this year's John Lewis advert, and whom Gigwise has been championing for some time, and Kali Uchis.
