Johnny Borrell has strangely admitted that his former band and indie powerhouse Razorlight “totally fucked” UK music up for everyone.

Borrell was talking about the concept of 'landfill Indie” and explained the implications of each and every song from The Yeah Yeah Yeahs through to Kings of Leon. I

n the interview with Noisey, Johnny Borrell explained that Razorlight’s 2006 track, ‘Before I Fall To Pieces’, "So here’s where we totally fucked it up for everyone. I think you can kind of say that in 2006, at the start of this video, music was in quite an interesting place. Then three-and-a-half minutes later it's fucked."

The singer even launched an attack on Razorlight’s former drummer, Andy Burrows: "I’m playing psychedelic blues-tango, and his stuff is so middle of the road it’s got more white lines than Liam Gallagher in 1997."

He then admitted, “I think the second Razorlight album definitely opened the way for a flood of mediocrity in UK music.”

The ‘Golden Touch’ singer, quite oddly, apologised for giving so much stick to his band’s former rivals, The Kooks: “I mean, good luck to them – this song’s so inoffensive I feel bad for slagging them off back in the day."

The singer also went into a rant about The Libertines being a “self-referential tabloid pantomime”.
