As the world continues to mourn the loss of the late, great Prince, there is now speculation around whether drug addiction was the cause of his death - as officials reveal that he was found with medication on his person when he died.
It was revealed that the 'Purple Rain' and 'Kiss' icon had not slept for six days straight in the week leading up to his death, before he found dead at his Paisley Park Minnesota home, aged just 57.
Amid new claims that Prince may have been battling AIDs, TMZ reports that sources close to The Purple One claim that Prince had a long-standing 'addiction' to the painkiller Perocet, dating back to hip surgery that he underwent in 2009. They also claim that he was seen visiting the pharmacy several times in his final days, and that the FBI is currently investigating who filled out his prescriptions.
Now, officials have revealed that Prince was found with opioid medication his person when his body was found, CNN reports.
Officials state that they believe a health scare that caused Prince's jet to make an emergency landing in Illinois in the weeks before his death may have led to an increase in his use of medication. After landing, he was treated for an overdose of pain medication, officials claim.

His lawyer and former manager L. Londell McMillan said: "People use medication. The question is, are you on meds in a dangerous way?"
"Everybody who knows Prince knows he wasn't walking around drugged up. That's foolish. No one ever saw Prince and said 'He looks high.' It wasn't what he was about."
