Crowds at the Hillsborough vigil in Liverpool sang ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ in a moving tribute to the 96 people unlawfully crushed to death at a football match in 1989.
Yesterday was a historic, and long-awaited moment in history, as an inquest concluded that the football fans crushed in the infamous Hillsborough disaster was unlawfully killed, with match commander Ch Supt David Duckenfield found “responsible for manslaughter by gross negligence.”
Equally as important, after a battle by victims’ families that has taken 27 years, the behaviour of Liverpool fans was exonerated.
Following the ruling, thousands flooded the streets of Liverpool to sing ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ - the anthem of Liverpool FC - in an incredibly moving tribute.
