Aerosmith's Steven Tyler has open about his Prince's reported death from drugs, and his own battles with addiction - saying 'he died so that I could live'.
It has been claimed that Prince's death has been linked to an addiction to painkillers, and Tyler himself recently admitting relapsing into his addiction struggles, which he has infamously fought with for decades.
"We're going to miss him and his music, but I think it's deeper than that," Tyler told People Magazine. "You know, I am very aware of taking too much of something. "It got me in rehab many, many times. As a recovering drug addict and alcoholic, I get that. In the '80s, I fell to my knees with my addictions."
He went on: "Doctors are the new pushers. All of America isn't strung out on street drugs, they're strung out on prescribed drugs.
"I'm hoping whoever brought him [Prince] to the hospital that night will have something to say... I hope it's not drugs. But if it is, this didn't have to happen... I was fortunate enough to have someone who said, 'You're going to Betty Ford [rehab clinic], again.'"
In another recent interview with Dujour, he added: "I think Prince died so I could live. I think we both have the same disease. Today I'm sober and alive. Will I be dead tomorrow? I don't know."
