Kiss star Gene Simmons has caused controversy by declaring the death of Prince as 'pathetic', before immediately regretting it and apologising.
In one of a long line of douchebag comments from the long-tongued loudmouth, was talking to Newsweek when he chose to compare Prince's death to that of David Bowie.
“All the other ones were a choice," he said. "[Prince's] drugs killed him. What do you think, he died from a cold?”
He continued: “I think Prince was heads, hands and feet above all the rest of them. I thought he left [Michael] Jackson in the dust. Prince was way beyond that. But how pathetic that he killed himself. Don’t kid yourself, that’s what he did. Slowly, I’ll grant you... but that’s what drugs and alcohol is: a slow death.”
His bandmate Paul Stanley then took to Twitter to say that he was 'embarrassed' by Simmons' 'clueless' comments:
Embarrassed by cold clueless statements re Prince's death. Without all the facts better to say nothing. My apologies https://t.co/Arb5XQ4o7l

However, Simmons then quickly took to Twitter to apologise - adding that he only meant to highlight the toll that drugs can take on peoples' lives.

Earlier this week also saw Aerosmith frontman Steve Tyler declare that 'Prince died so that I could live', while creators of New Girl revealed that His Royal Badness refused to appear the same episode as The Kardashians.
Meanwhile, speculation continues to surround Prince's death - amid rumours that he had an addiction to painkillers and was due to see a doctor for it days before his death, while claims have also emerged that he was battling AIDS.
