Although the decision R.E.M made in 2011 to go their separate ways, and not play 20 year old songs all the time looks likely to remain, Michael Stipe seems ready to flex his vocal chords yet again.
The 'Losing My Religion' and 'Drive' star told The New York Times, “I’m not ready to go completely into pop stardom again … but I want to work in music again,."
According to Stipe, the decision was sparked when he was performing various Bowie tribute events. He played a memorial gig with The Pixies, and Flaming Lips and played a striking version 'The Man Who Sold The World' on the tonight show.
The New York Times reports that he'll get started by producing electroclash group Fischerspooner’s first album since 2009. His return will be greeted by fans with joy as he truly is one of the greatest songwriters the world has ever known, with a beautiful, distinctive voice.
Stipe's comments about his future come as he prepares for this Friday's release of the 25th anniversary version of the R.E.M classic, Out of Time.
