OFF Festival taking place from 4-6 August in Katowice, Poland has just made some exciting line-up additions, including Daniel Johnston, Shellac, and Silver Apples.
They'll be joining experimental rock legends Swans who will headline. Band leader Michael Gira has played the festival before and says the “scenery is out of this world”. The other acts announced will certainly suit fans of Swans. Shellac are Nirvana Nevermind producer, Steve Albini's band. They're one of the tightest rock units in the world and any Primavera Sound goer will know them as the house band there.
Another Kurt Cobain association is also named. Daniel Johnston Hi, How Are You t-shirt is was famously worn by the Nirvana star. The singer, who's life is best portrayed in the astounding documentary, The Devil and Daniel Johnston, is a bipolar artist and is a lo-fi icon and the author of several hundred captivating songs released on a few dozen albums, along with innumerable fascinating illustrations. To see him live is a rare opportunity that shouldn't be missed.
