Californian rock-metal band, Papa Roach, have announced their new album Crooked Teeth via Eleven Seven Music.
Crooked Teeth is the band’s ninth studio record – a record that lead singer Jacoby Shaddix has said will be a return to their earlier days.
Recorded in a cramped North Hollywood studio – the record was co-produced by Nicholas “RAS” Furlong and Colin Brittain. The pair both grew up listening to Papa Roach, and were inspired to revisit some of bands intense live energy. Though this is the first time the pair has produced together, they have aimed to make something that long term fans of the band will recognize.
“The whole idea was to take the classic elements of Papa Roach that everyone loved and revamp them into a modern version of the sound through the creative process, and we ended up with a bold, courageous and more adventurous version of Papa Roach,” says Shaddix.
Crooked Teeth also sees a return to Shaddix rapping, something that both Furlong and Brittain were keen to bring forward.
Speaking about the record, guitarist Jerry Horton said, “We didn't go into this album with the intention of trying to write radio singles.” Instead – it is a record that is far more live influenced and means to be played in front of an audience.
“This collection of songs was really about book-ending everything that we’ve done prior to this album and reintroducing Papa Roach to people who didn't realize the depth that we have,” says drummer Tony Palermo.
Crooked Teeth is set for release on 19 May via Eleven Seven Music
