Hotly-tipped post-grunge quartet Honey Lung are set to take off with the announcement of third single, 'Sophomore', and launch party at Camden Assembly.
They’ve been packing out shows all over London with riffled-up alcohol-fuelled youths, leading to crowd surfer after crowd surfer and countless stage invasions, so it’s no surprise that Honey Lung are back with their third single, sounding bigger than ever before.
Showcasing lo-fi fuzzy guitars with their refreshed '90s inspired grunge, Honey Lung have hit the nail on the head with Sophomore: an answer to all things rock ‘n’ roll. Lyrically bittersweet, “in a nutshell it’s a song about depending on your friends” explains songwriter Jamie Batten, “and the intricacies of relationships in general.”
‘Sophomore’ had its radio debut on BBC Radio 1 with Huw Stephens, followed shortly by plays from John Kennedy on Radio X Xposure and BBC Introducing in Devon. The track strikes a chord with artists such as Smashing Pumpkins and shoegaze influences from Ride, whilst honing in on nostalgic remedies of the pop-punk glory days of the early 2000s.
Once you have listened to 'Sophomore' once you’ll be hooked as Honey Lung force their scuzzy sound to the barrels of your eardrums, where it will remain for eternity. The turbulent track, produced by Michael Smith and Matt Thomas at RYP Recordings, features anthemic riffs whilst giving a nod to contemporary music dominating the Indie scene, such as Wolf Alice and Brighton based High Tyde.
Honey Lung will be debuting 'Sophomore', released on 5 May, at their launch show on 2 May at Camden Assembly. Other shows include When In Manchester Festival on 15 April and The Great Escape Festival on 19 May.
