Cold War Kids will play three UK shows this summer, their first gigs in the country in four years.
The celebrated Californian indie rockers will play at the Brighton Concorde 2 (July 5), London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire (July 6) and the Ritz in Manchester (July 7) to promote their recent sixth album ‘LA Divine’, which was released on April 7. Tickets for the shows go on sale tomorrow (April 13). Keep an eye out for them here.
The band are fresh from an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live in the US, performing the lead track from the album ‘Love Is Mystical’, a song which singer Nathan Willett explains is about "when you tour as much as we do, and you get back in the studio in the middle of it, you're kinda numb, it is hard to get that feeling back and this song was the real breakthrough. It's about supernatural love – looking for inspiration and meaning, surrendering to feeling, love calling out your name; that journey we must go on to find it."
This string of dates will be the first the band have played in the UK since the departure of lead guitarist Dann Gallucci, who was replaced by David Quon of We Barbarians last year.
They also follow the release of Cold War Kids’ anti-Trump song ‘Locker Room Talk’ last October. "At this point in the game, taking a shot at Trump almost feels unnecessary,” the band commented. “Too easy. More negativity. We're all so tired of him. But when I heard Death Cab's song [‘Million Dollar Loan’], I realized that's a mistake. It’s important to state the obvious, to express those feelings in a song. Even if it's maybe redundant, it feels great to let it all out!"
