A man claiming to be Tupac Shakur was arrested in LA last month on charges of felony assault with a deadly weapon.
According to TMZ, 45-yar-old Clarence Campbell was arrested on March 1 but gave Tupac’s full name, Tupac Amura Shakur, and date of birth, June 16, 1971.
It’s not the first time that Campbell has claimed to be Tupac on being arrested – according to Campbell, the legendary rapper who was killed in a shooting in Las Vegas in 1996 has been booked by the law multiple times in recent years on charges including battery.
Meanwhile, Tupac’s vision for a restaurant, which he sketched out about in his notebook, is being realized with the opening of the Powamekka Café in New York. The restaurant promises a “carefully curated collection from his archives including personal photos from his childhood, his poetry and music memorabilia from his favourite artists and through the food he loved including meatloaf, gumbo and, one of his favourite dishes – his cousin Jamala’s fried chicken wings”.
“Tupac’s creative vision was limitless. He was constantly working on ideas and plans that reached far beyond music and film,” Tupac estate trustee Tom Whalley. “One of the things he was extremely passionate about was opening a restaurant – he even sketched out plans and a concept for a menu. We are proud to bring Tupac’s Powamekka Café to life.”
