Bill Murray has been filmed performing a cover of Van Morrison’s ‘When Will I Ever Learn To Live In God?’ The rendition, which may well have you asking such philosophical nuggets as, “If there is a God then how does he allow such things to happen?”, was delivered at the Dresden Music Festival in Germany on Sunday (June 4).
The much-loved comic actor recently announced his first-ever musical album, New Worlds. Dressed in a black tuxedo, delivered his version while backed by album collaborators cellist Jan Vogler, violinist Mira Wang, and pianist Vanessa Perez. In a flourish as befits a prestigious event like this, Bill Murray ended his set by tossing roses into the audience. Check out the fan-shot footage here:
Bill Murray – star of Groundhog Day, Ghostbusters and the criminally overlooked Stripes – is set to release his new album, New Worlds, in September. The album will find the deadpan comic reading selections from Walt Whitman, Ernest Hemingway, and Mark Twain as the ensemble plays Bach, Schubert, and Piazzolla. He also sings songs from West Side Story, Van Morrison, George Gershwin (‘It Ain’t Necessarily So’), and Stephen Foster (‘Jeanie With the Light Brown Hair’).
He’ll then take his album out on tour in the US in October.
More recently, Bill Murray appeared on the album, Paul Shaffer And The World’s Most Dangerous Band, the latest record by former The Late Show With David Letterman bandleader.
