See what we said earlier about the need to rehearse? You know, the kind of activity that prevents bands having to launch into a cappella renditions of their songs? Well, Liam Gallagher knows the score on that one after he revealed turning down a guest slot with Foo Fighters at their recent headlining slot at the Glastonbury Festival.
The former Oasis frontman was hanging out with the ‘Learn To Fly’ hitmakers at the Pyramid Stage when Foo Fighters’ frontman Dave Grohl asked him to join them onstage during their show – but he was having none of it.
He told Beats 1’s Zane Lowe: “He asked me to come on and do a song. I said ‘no’, ‘cos I need a bit of rehearsal. I know it’s cool and all that, but I need a rehearsal.”
That’s not to say that something might not happen in the future. Liam Gallagher is set to appear at the CalJam Festival in San Bernadino, California on October 7. The event has been put together by Foo Fighters and the one-day event is set to feature performances from Queens Of The Stone Age, Cage the Elephant, The Kills, Royal Blood, Japandroids, Wolf Alice, Bob Mould, and many more.
When asked by Lowe if there was some kind of scope for a guest appearance there, Gallagher replied: “I tell you what I wanna do. I wanna do ‘Range Rover Bitch’ that Taylor [Hawkins, drums] made. That’s the tune.”
The ‘Rock’n’Roll’ star singer also expressed a degree of regret over his relationship with brother Noel saying, “Me and our kid don’t speak and that’s the saddest thing about it.” But maybe not that regretful. He opined that his older brother’s versions of Oasis songs were comparable to Dolly Parton.
But probably well rehearsed versions all the same.
