EDM festival UNITE with Tomorrowland in Barcelona was evacuated after fire broke out on stage. The one-day festival was taking place on Saturday (July 29) and 22,000 people were evacuated from the city’s Parc de Can Zam.
Taking to Facebook, festival organisers reported that the stage “caught fire due to a technical malfunction.” All of the attendees were safely evacuated with no reports of serious injury. According to Spanish paper El Periodico, some attendees were treated for anxiety. You can see footage of the fire below.
Writing on Facebook, UNITE with Tomorrowland’s organisers said: “Tonight, July 29th 2017, the UNITE Barcelona stage caught fire due to a technical malfunction. Thanks to the professional intervention of the authorities all 22.000 visitors were evacuated safely and without reports of injuries. Some fans have contradicted the organisers’ version of events. There are claims that there was no professional help surrounding the evacuation with others claiming that the fire services took around 40 minutes to arrive.
