Goldenvoice, the people behind the celebrated Coachella festival, have announced the launch of a new, 10-day festival called All Points East. Taking place in London’s Victoria Park, the new festival has thus far announced The xx and The National as the first two headliners.

The xx will play on May 26 and will be joined by Popcaan and Lykki Li, with further supports to be announced. The National will headline the following weekend on June 2 and will be supported by The War On Drugs, Future Islands, Warpaint and The Districts.

All Points East will host 40,000 people and focus on “credible and more independently focussed” acts. It is understood that will have a similar format to the Barclaycard presents British Summer Time festival in Hyde Park.

Following the opening weekend, a four-day community focused midweek event will deliver an entertainment programme of comedy, food, outdoor cinema and more. All Points East culminates the following weekend with three huge standalone headline shows. Some of these midweek will be free of charge.

Speaking of the event, The National said: “After a thrilling four sold out shows at the Eventim Apollo in September, we are excited to take over Victoria Park next summer. We are already thinking about ways to make this more than just a show."

Executive Vice President, Live Music at AEG Presents, Jim King said: "We are thrilled to be able to launch this new festival concept and bring some of the world's most exciting artists to Victoria Park. With a new three day music festival followed by a programme of midweek events offering open access to the local community all culminating in three huge standalone shows, we’re confident that this is the most exciting new event in the country.”

Mayor of Tower Hamlets, John Biggs, added: “The council is pleased to be working with AEG, who were selected following a rigorous procurement process to deliver some exciting events in 2018 which can be enjoyed by local people, Londoners and visitors from across the UK.”
