Courtney Love and her daughter Frances Bean Cobain are reportedly locked in a legal fight to prevent graphic photos taken at Kurt Cobain’s death scene from being released to the public. The late Nirvana frontman committed suicide in 1994.

The Blast reports that court documents show that Courtney Love and Frances Bean Cobain are attempting to prevent conspiracy theorist Richard Lee from making police photos of the Nirvana singer’s death available to the public. The photos are said to show “Kurt Cobain’s body as it lay in the family residence after he was shot in the head.”

Lee has spent the last 23 years investigating Cobain’s untimely passing. It’s his contention that Cobain didn’t commit suicide but was actually killed in a conspiracy involving various government officials. He lost his original suit against the city of Seattle in 2015 but has since filed an appeal.

Love and Cobain have hit back by helping to fight the appeal. They claim that releasing the photos “would not only exacerbate the posttraumatic stress Frances Bean Cobain has suffered since childhood but physically endanger her and her mother by encouraging more disturbed stalkers and fanatical threats.”

When previously testifying in the case, Courtney Love described Cobain’s death as “the most traumatic experience of my life. It left me physically distraught and I continue to suffer emotionally from the loss of my husband to this day.”

Frances Bean Cobain added that she “has had to deal with the trauma of his death her entire life.”

Love has previously accused Lee of trying to exploit Cobain’s death. In a declaration filed on April 21, 2016, Love claimed that Lee had “stalked and harassed me, my family, and my friends for many, many years … On one particular occasion, Mr Lee even filmed himself chasing a limousine for several miles that he thought I was a passenger in. Mr Lee’s actions make me fear for my safety.”
