All four headliners of the All Points East Festival have now been revealed. Bjork and LCD Soundsystem join The xx and The National for this new event happening at the end of May and June 2018 in Victoria Park, London. See the full line-up and ticket details below.
LCD Soundsystem headline on 25 May; The xx on 26 May; Bjork on 27 May; and The National on 2 June. The supports are massive: Lorde, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Beck are among the newly-announced.
It's fair to say LCD Soundsystem, who famously split in 2011 before reforming in 2015, garner one of the most visceral reactions from a festival crowd imaginable - and are a stellar choice for the inner city event making this new festival put on by the people behind Coachella a force to be reckoned with.
The first three studio albums LCD put out are stacked with timeless dancefloor classics such as 'Daft Punk Is Playing At My House' and 'Tribulations'; and tracks from their reunion album, American Dream, heighten the set making it even more electrifying than it was the first time around.
Main support comes from New York rock 'n' roll contemporaries Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Lead singer Karen O is one of the most influential of the 21st century and will whip the crowd into a frenzy. Expect Victoria Park to be the epicenter of the rock/indie world that night.
As for the following day, having Lorde support The xx is going to be a massive draw; especially given how well her set went down at Alexandra Palace this September.
Lorde was 'hotly-tipped' when she first broke through in 2013, but now, with the support of David Bowie - and a rewarding second album for fans to dive into - the New Zealander is looking like one of the most enduring solo artists of a generation.
Tyler, The Creator and Skepta collaborator Rex Orange Country; and last but not least, Mercury Prize winner, Sampha, also joins Lorde as the newly announced support for The xx.
The xx have had a phenomenal 2017, and it's encouraging seeing them book in a show in 2018. It's likely to be one of few in the UK given the extensive touring they did this year. Thanks to said touring their global fanbase is mushrooming. Their melancholic live show incorporates arresting cinematic, psychedelic electronic soundscapes and sweet R&B tinged vocals - and is not to be missed. Some of the more visceral, upbeat songs on the second album have helped create more ebbs and flows in the live show than was possible on their previous tour, too.
Meanwhile, Bjork, who heads up the Sunday (27 May), is - as has been said many times - a true artist. She's inimitable, extraordinary, a one-off. Many fans will have first become fans of Bjork in the 80s when she was in the Reykjavik band Sugarcubes. After they disbanded in 1992, she been leading a phenomenally successful solo career. Her astounding debut album featuring live favourites such as 'Venus as A Boy' and 'Human Behaviour' and set the bar for the rest of her oeuvre to follow.
Support for her night comes from Father John Misty, Beck and Flying Lots, to name a few.
The final day of music for All Points East Festival comes from The National on 2 June and details have already been announced last week.
