In a bizarre move, Pete Doherty is set to perform a rendition of the Mary Poppins song ‘Chim Chim Cheree’ this weekend.
The controversial rocker will lend his unique vocal drawl to the track – originally sung by Dick Van Dyke on the movie – at the South Bank Centre on Sunday (June 17).
The show is part of the Jarvis Cocker curated Meltdown festival on the South Bank, with the night going under name ‘Forest of No Return Disney Night.’
Other artists lending their vocals to Disney songs are Shane MacGowan, Beth Orton and Jarvis himself.
Meltdown takes place from June 16-23 and boasts performances from the likes of Iggy Pop and the Stooges, Motorhead, Devo, Cornershop and The Jesus and Mary Chain.
