Your New Favourite Band: The Depreciation Guild

Any new band looking to make an impression on a foreign country could do worse than take a leaf out of The Depreciation Guild's book. The Brooklyn trio are over in the UK at the moment and are tonight scheduled to play their fourth gig in London in as many days, before beginning nationwide dates on Monday in support of The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart.

In short, if you live in the capital – or any of six other cities due to house them over the next week – then you'll do well to avoid them. And that's not a bad thing.

Consisting of twin brothers Christoph and Anton Hochheim (both of whom also ply their trade in The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart) and frontman Kurt Feldman, The Depreciation Guild make the type of scuzzy, showgazy pop not heard since the early 90s. From the melodic brilliance of 'Butterfly Kisses' to the emotive 'Dream About Me', it's like coming up against a wall of noise crafted from  honey-drenched guitars and an 8-bit Nintendo soundcard.

It's no surprise Kanine Records, whose roster already includes Chairlift and The Whip, were so keen to snap them up.

You can watch the video for The Depreciation Guild's recent single 'Dream About Me' below or find out more about their debut album 'In Her Gentle Jaws' here
