The 'Rage Against The Machine For Christmas No.1' Facebook group have thanked members for helping them raise over £20,000 for charity Shelter so far.
Speaking to Gigwise, Tracy Morter - who set up the now 720,000 strong group with her husband Jon - said: “We're absolutely astonished that we have raised £20,000 for Shelter, thank you so much! This milestone marks start to the week where buying Killing In The Name counts towards the Christmas chart.”
Since 'Killing In The Name' became eligible for the chart yesterday, music lovers have been buying the 1992 rock anthem in their droves in a bid to keep X Factor winner Joe McElderry off the top spot.
However, Tracy warned that mass buying may have a detrimental effect, adding: “Don't get too carried away buying lots of copies from one outlet as this could result in those purchases being disqualified from the count.”
She continued: “Good luck to all the other artists vying for the festive chart. This is what we wanted - a proper race with all kinds of music!”
As well buying 'Killing In Name', those who want to donate to Shelter can do so HERE.
Joe McElderry is currently the strong favourite to take the Christmas number one, with Ladbrokes listing him at 1/8 on.
- C'mon ppl! this is for once a true standing against unmeasurable odds and a fine donation to charity!! make sure you don't make more than one download per site tho! everyone's doing a great job here! mon the rage!

- You either support us and take action now or you dont and let the moment pass. Let it not be said you stood by and did nothing when you for as little as 29p and five minutes of your time you could have put your mark in the sand defended those rights your relatives fought and died for.
- if we mass bought the x-fuctor one, would it be disqualified???
- There are sad people who can only exist by being constantly against something, or do something to hurt somebody else. Why, but why, would they try to hurt a lovely 18 year-old boy who is so happy to win the competition of his life through honest and hard work? Sad!
