Julian Casablancas speaks about plans...

The Strokes' frontman Julian Casablancas says the band are intent on releasing their new album in September.

In an interview with the Chicago Tribune, the singer said the group were still at work on the project in New York.

And he promised that, when released, their as-yet-untitled fourth LP would have a “different feel” to its predecessors.

“I think it’ll be out in September,” Casablancas said.

“I’ve written a lot of melodies for it, but the other guys have also contributed a lot more: melodies, choruses, parts.

“It’s way more collaborative. So it’ll have a different feel than our other albums.”

Casablancas also confirmed that the band will headline this summer's Lollapalooza festival in Chicago.

Until now, The Strokes only other confirmed shows in 2010 are headline slots at the Isle of Wight festival and Rockness in Scotland.

“We’re getting the biggest offers of our career,” he said about The Strokes' festival dates.

“It feels great, because I remember people writing things like ‘We’ll see if they’re still around in 10 years’ when we first came out.”
