Dave Grohl: 'Butch Vig Will Make Foo Fighters Rock Again'

Dave Grohl says that the Foo Fighters will showcase a heavier sound on their next album.

The group, who are due to start recording in September, have followed a more acoustic direction on their more recent releases.

But in an interview with BBC Newsbeat, Grohl said that the volume button would be set “on ten” for their next effort.

Grohl said the band had "30 or 40 ideas" for songs - and that he was looking forward to reuniting with producer for the first time since the pair recorded Nirvana's 'Nevermind'.

"It's the first album the two of us have made together in 20 years,” he said.

"There's something that Butch does that helps a song become a bigger song. At this point I just want to rock."

Meanwhile, Grohl performed with side-project Them Crooked Vultures at London's Royal Albert Hall last night.

The gig formed part of the Teenage Cancer Trust gig series, which will also feature two performances from Noel Gallagher.
