A protest against the planned closure of BBC 6 Music is being held outside Broadcasting House in West London this weekend.
Fans of the ill-fated station are being urged to turn up for the peaceful protest outside BBC Radio's headquarters at 12pm on Saturday (March 27).
Some well-known speakers, DJs and live buskers are lined up for the protest to create “an air of festivity”.
Organisers of the protest write on the love6music website: “This is a celebration of our beloved station; a demonstration of support for the staff, musicians, and a collective show to the Consultation team that we do not want to lose our station.”
“Come along to show your solidarity and support; bring a flask of tea and have a party all in the name of saving 6Music.”
Earlier this month, BBC director general Mark Thompson outlined plans to shut BBC 6 Music alongside the Asian Network and part of the corporation's website in a bid to save “millions”.
So far a whopping 166,000 people have joined the Facebook group Save BBC 6 Music
