Fans Rejoice After BBC 6 Music Is Saved From Closure

Music fans have been expressing their happiness and relief after BBC 6 Music was saved from closure.

The BBC Trust chairman Sir Michael Lyon rejected proposals for the digital station to be shut as part of budget cuts.

Thousands of music fans and artists started campaigns to save 6 Music when its planned closure was first muted in March.

And many have praised the decision on various social-networking websites.

“Wonderful news. I am delighted, thank you Sir Michael,” one fan, Donna, told Gigwise after news broke that the station is to be saved.

Another supporter, Woo, said in our comments section: “Brilliant news - I'm so happy!”

Meanwhile, on Twitter, @MUSICFANSMIC said: “Fantastic news. Without it there really wouldn't be a decent music station on our (digital) airwaves!”

@noise_jam said: "The BEST news, definitely!" while @lindziskewl used emoticons to express her delight: ":) :) :)"
