Johnny Depp 'To Play Rock Star In New Movie'

Hollywood actor Johnny Depp is set to play a rock star in a forthcoming movie, it's been reported.

Sonny Boy will apparently see Depp play a character who enjoys success with a cover of a song by an artist who is presumed dead.

But convinced that the musician is still alive, Depp sets out on a journey to find him.

According to The Sun, the actor, who is also a keen musician, has been researching for the role by going to gigs unannounced.

Depp, 47, famously played guitar on Oasis' 'Fade In-Out'. He also financed Sheffield-based band Babybird's last album 'Ex-Maniac'.

He was also recently working on a documentary about Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards.

The actor is currently filming the fourth movie in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
