Katy Perry has revealed that she and fiancé Russell Brand have asked Morrissey to sing at their wedding.
The pair, who met last September, are set to tie the knot in a low-key ceremony in India this autumn.
Perry said the former Smiths star - a close friend of Brand - had given them both a “hard time” about getting married, but that they still wanted him to entertain guests at the reception.
She told The Sun: "He swooned and sighed, 'Oh, left hand third finger, don't do it.' It was just so eloquent and poetic and like one of his songs.
"It would be great to have him at the wedding but I told him, 'We can't have a Mr Misery like you messing things up.'”
Perry added: "It's going to be a small ceremony, so I don't think we'll have a proper band. I'd love to have Morrissey."
Perry is due to release her second album ‘Teenage Dream’ on August 30.
