Apple has launched a new social network which looks set to take on sites like MySpace and Twitter.
Ping is integrated in the latest version of the company's iTunes software and allows users to build networks of friends.
A special playlists feature also enables users to see what their friends are listening to. As well as Macs and PCs, Ping also works on Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch.
"It's a social network all about music," CEO Steve Jobs told reporters at a press conference in San Francisco on Wednesday (September 1).
Meanwhile, Apple has also completely refreshed its line of iPods, including a new Nano which features a touch screen.
The new iPod Touch also boasts the company' Facetime chat interface.
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin performed at the launch yesterday. His three-song set included a new track, entitled 'Wedding Bells'.
