Ja Rule has been given a two-year prison sentence for failing to pay taxes.
The rapper, who is currently serving two-year sentence for gun possession, was sentenced on yesterday (July 18) to a total of 28 months in prison, reports Billboard.
Before he was sentenced Ja Rule said: ''I in no way attempted to deceive the government or do anything illegal. I was a young man who made a lot of money - I'm getting a little choked up - I didn't know how to deal with these finances, and I didn't have people to guide me, so I made mistakes."
Ja Rule, real name Jeffrey Atkins, failed to pay a total of more than $3 million in taxes between 2004 and 2006.
The US Magistrate ruled that the majority of his 28-month sentenced could be served at the same time as his current two-year sentence.
