Bon Iver To Be Honoured In The US With Own Named Day

Bon Iver are to be honoured with their own day in Milwaukee, USA ahead of their gig in the city tonight (July 22).

The band, fronted by Justin Vernon, was founded in 2007 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where they continue to write and record their music. As such Tom Barrett, the mayor of Milwaukee, Wisconsin will honour Bon Iver by giving them the key to the city ahead of their opening tour show at Riverside Theatre, Wisconsin tonight.

Mayor Barrett said, "Bon Iver's music embraces Justin Vernon's Wisconsin heritage, as he has become an international ambassador for both Milwaukee and Wisconsin, while they travel across the world playing music and interact with national media.

"The City of Milwaukee joins supporting fans to enjoy the entertaining performance of Bon Iver and commends the band for their musical accomplishments," he continued. "And I, Tom Barrett, Mayor of the City of Milwaukee, do hereby proclaim Friday, July 22, 2011, to be BON IVER DAY throughout the City of Milwaukee."

Bon Iver are set to tour the US starting with tonight's show in Milwaukee, before heading to the UK in October. To buy tickets for Bon Iver, head to Gigwise Gig Tickets.
