Mutya Buena Wins Rights To Sugababes Name

After legal battle...

Mutya Buena has won her legal battle to the rights of the Sugababes name.

The singer, who left the band in 2005, has now been official listed on the EU Trademark website as an owner of the Sugababes title.

Buena pursued legal action after her former bandmate Keisha Buchanan left in 2009, leaving the band with no original members.

Buena broke the news on her Facebook page: "I won the official name of the Sugababes now!!! I deserve this! I'm over the moon!" She later added: "in tears feels like a dream (sic)."

It has now emerged that the singer has only limited rights to goods listed under Class 16 alone.

According to the EU Trademark website, Buena now owns Sugababes rights to "paper, cardboard and goods made from these materials, not included in other classes; namely stationery, paper gift wrap and paper gift wrapping ribbons".

The current line-up of the Sugababes includes Heidi Range, Amelle Berrabah and Jade Ewen.
