Filming for X-Men Origins sequel, The Wolverine has been pushed back to early 2012.

The shoot, which was meant to start this autumn in Japan, was moved due to the recent earthquake and weather conditions. According to Deadline, many of the locations chosen for the film have been compromised and it is rumoured that Fox have been considering pulling out of Japan completely.

This isn't good news for the X-Men sequel, whose screenplay is set to mostly take place in Japan. It has been reported that the location might change to Canada but this remains unconfirmed.

Directed by James Mangold, The Wolverine will see Hugh Jackman reprise his role as Logan, who will be travelling to Japan to train with a samurai warrior. So far other cast members include X-Men 2 actress Kelly Hu, Inception's Ken Watanabe, and Fame's Naturi Naughton.

Hugh Jackman fans will be happy to know that the actor will soon be seen on screen in Real Steel alongside Evangeline Lilly and Kevin Durand. Set in a near future where robots have replaced humans in boxing, the film will see Jackman play a boxing expert who teams up with his son to build a winning boxing robot of his own.

Real Steel will be released October 14.
