Christian Bale Is In Talks For Oldboy Remake

The Dark Knight Rises star Christian Bale is currently in talks to play the villain in Spike Lee's remake of Oldboy.

Based on the Nobuaki Minegishi's Japanese manga of the same name, Oldboy tells the story of Oh Dae-Su, a man who is locked in a hotel room for 15 years without knowing his captor's motives.

According to Variety, the Batman actor will be portraying the hero's captor, who even after releasing his prisoner continues to control his life.The american remake of the film is set to be directed by Spike Lee, who signed on to the project in July after Steven Spielberg and Will Smith stepped down.

A South-Korean version of the film, directed by Park Chan-Wook was released in 2003 and won the Cannes Grand Jury Prize in 2004.

Christian Bale is currently filming the third and last installment of the Batman franchise The Dark Knight Rises. It has also been revealed that the actor has signed up to play a role in Terrence Malick new film.

The Dark Knight Rises will be released July 20, 2012.
