Jeff Bridges: I Love Being Called The Dude

The Big Lebowski star Jeff Bridges has revealed he loves it when he is refered to his character 'The Dude' by fans.

The actor, who portrayed his most famous role in the Coen brother's 1998 comedy, has admitted The Big Lebowski is one of his favourite movies and loves it when fans refer to him as the unemployed slacker.

He told The Sun: "The Big Lebowski is one of my favourite movies, regardless of wether I'm in it. It's a wonderful movie. I am proud to be part of it."

"I love it when people shout 'Dude' at me on the street. I love that connection. The Dude look is still with me now. I wear the mantle of the Dude proudly," he added.

The Big Lebowski tells the story of an unemployed avid bowler, Jeff Lebowski (Jeff Bridges) otherwise known as 'The Dude' who gets mistaken for a millionaire with whom he shares the same last name. When his rug is ruined by thugs looking for the other Lebowski, the 'Dude' decides to seek compensation with the help from his bowling buddies.

The actor also revealed he used clothing from his own wardrobe for his role as 'The Dude' in the film.

"A lot of the clothes were mine," he said. "Clothes are one of the first things I explore when I look at a character. I went through my wardrobe and found these jelly sandals - and various T-shirts and tops - and used them."
