Happy Mondays' Bez Missed Out On Date With Julia Roberts

Happy Mondays' Bez missed out on a date with actress Julia Robets, former bandmate Shaun Ryder has revealed.

In an interview with XFM, Ryder said how the Hollywood actress 'made a beeline' for Bez at the Viper Room in LA in the early 90s.

"Pretty Woman had just come out and we watched the movie going over to the States on the plane," Ryder said.

He added: "Bez didn't watch it and didn't have a clue who Julia Roberts was. When we got in the Viper she made pretty much a beeline for him. She had this bodyguard called Evil who Bez was more interested in. "Who's Julia Roberts?" [Bez asked]. She invited him back to her place but I think he went for a drink with Evil."

Shaun Ryder recently released his first autobiography, entitled 'Twisting My Melon'.

The book will tell the story of Ryder’s entire career, from the Happy Mondays and Blake Grape through to his recent appearance on the reality show I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here.
