Aaron Sorkin, the writer behind The Social Network, has entered negotiations to pen a biopic based on the life of Apple co-creator Steve Jobs.

Sorkin has met with Sony to discuss the movie, which would chart the technology pioneer's life, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Should Sorkin accept the offer, the movie would be based on Walter Isaacson's official biography of Jobs.

Currently attached to the project are Saving Private Ryan producer Mark Gordon and Management 360.

While Sorkin may be the ideal candidate, his role could be complicated by the fact that he and Jobs were friends in real life.

Steve Jobs passed away earlier in October after losing his long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Publication of Isaacson's book was brought forward in the wake of his death.
