Noel Gallagher, Ed Sheerana and Matt Cardle are among a collection of artists who have backed the music matters campaign.
Talking to the Music Matters campaign at the 2011 Q Awards earlier this week, a whole host of stars from the music world gave their reasons why the art means so much to them.
Gallagher explained: "It speaks the universal language of love."
X Factor's Cardle added: "Music matters to me because it's all I've ever loved properly. It's been an obsession of mine and then turned into a full-blown love affair, I suppose."
While, Ed Sheeran said: "It's a great way to get things off your chest. For instance; yesterday before I was about to go on stage I got a whole spate of bad news and was in a mood, and then I went on stage and I was instantly in a good mood. It does stuff like that. It makes you feel good."
Music Matters, launched in March last year, aims to fight music piracy as digital formats become increasingly popular.
A range of musicians including Elbow, Kate Bush and The Beatles have already backed the campaign with a range of animated short films.
