Blur Plan Christmas Reunion To 'Write New Material'

Blur are set to meet up over Christmas to discuss the possibility of working on new material.

The band reformed over the summer of 2010 for a number of shows and have now revealed new material could be on the cards.

Speaking to the NME, bass player Alex James said. "We're getting together for a Christmas drink next week which is nice. We still see each other all the time, more since we were all living out of a suitcase."

He added: "We'll probably record again."

When asked whether the band would record a full album, James continued:  "Is there such a thing as an album? Does music have to come 12 tracks at a time?" he asked. Later the bass player said the re-union would be like "getting The Blues Brothers back together."

Meanwhile, Blur will receive the Outstanding Contribution To Music Award at next year's Brit Awards, it has been announced.

The band will collect the gong during the ceremony at the O2 Arena on February 21.

Speaking about the award, Damon Albarn has said "recognition for all the work and all the heartache that has gone into this band."
