Steel Panther's Raunchy 'Balls Out' Advert Gets Banned By UK Authorities

    Deemed overtly sexual...

January 25, 2012 by Alex Andrews

Steel Panther's promotional poster for their third album 'Balls Out' has been banned by UK advertising authorities for being "overtly sexual."

The advert had run throughout October and November, but in light of recent complaints from a charity for abused women from ethnic backgrounds, the poster has now been deemed unsuitable for public display by the UK's Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).

ASA told Campaign Magazine that the advertisement is capable of causing “serious and widespread offence” and is unsuitable viewing for children.

The band's label Universal Records told ASA that the poster had been designed to match the band's “ludicrously over the top” persona.

Though Universal admitted they could have been more thoughtful when choosing poster spots, they said that they had not meant to cause any offence.

Steel Panther are set to embark on their biggest tour of the UK this Spring, playing four dates in March. The tour starts at Birmingham's O2 Academy on March 27 and runs until March 31 with a headline show at London's O2 Academy Brixton.
