Deftones Bassist Chi Cheng Begins To Emerge From Coma - Video

Deftones member Chi Cheng is beginning to emerge from a coma after spending the last three and a half years in an unconscious state.

The bassist has been in a coma since a car crash in Santa Clara, California in November 2008.

The band initially cancelled all their scheduled performances while his family began an appeal to raise money to help cover his medical costs.

After seven months in hospital, Cheng's condition slowly began to improve and he was taken off life support.

It has now been reported that Cheng has managed to start emerging from his coma, slipping in and out over short periods of time.

Cheng is starting to respond to sounds and is able to lift up his leg when asked by doctors.
