A musical which has driven a rocky road so far ‘Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark,’ which features music from U2’s Bono and The Edge, has seen a positive twist as the legal dispute between producers and former director Julie Taymor is settled.

Sacked from her role last year Taymor  launched a lawsuit against the musicals producers seeking $1million (£621,000) in damages claiming that her creative rights had been violated, she also claimed she had not been paid properly for her part in the production.

Taymor is now to receive full royalties for her role in Spider-Man as director and will receive an additional, un-disclosed amount, for her role in developing the show.

A statement released by Karen Azenberg, who is the President of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society released a statement announcing “The litigation between us is over, and we are hopeful that any remaining issues between the producer and Ms. Taymor regarding her role as author can also be resolved to the satisfaction of all.”

‘Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark’ last month broke the Broadway record to become the highest single week grossing show of all time. This comes as an astounding turn around for a show that was plagued by actor accidents, financial troubles and bad reviews in its early days.
