Gotye, the Ausssie singer-songwriter who shot to number one with 'Somebody That I Used To Know' says that there will not be any new material from him anytime soon.
The 31 year old released his third album, 'Making Mirrors' last year, but warns that fans may have to wait several years for new recordings.
He admitted: "It takes me a long time to make Gotye records. This one (Making Mirrors) took two and a half years. There's lots of experimenting and playing with sounds and production techniques."
The singer, whose real name is Wouter De Backer, has finally found major success nine years after releasing his debut album 'Boardface'. 'Somebody That I Used To Love' scored him a No.1 hit after becoming popular through sharing on social networking sites such as YouTube and Facebook rather than through traditional airplay and promotion.
Despite this success, Gotye has said: "I don't have a follow up to' Making Mirrors', and probably won't do another Gotye record for another two or three years." He also mentions that his recent success feels like a win for independent music, but adds that "I don't think the song would have happened without a really great label."
Gotye has recieved plenty of Celebrity backing after the success of his recent single, with Gary Barlow and Lily Allen just two of the stars who have been tweeting their admiration. Gotye adds that "Ashton Kutcher and Katy Perry have been tweeting about the track." He finished by teasing that he likes "a lot of Katy Perry's tracks... it would be weird and interesting if I collaborated with an artist like that."
