Noel Gallagher: Liam stopped our US success

Noel Gallagher has admitted that Oasis didn't crack America because they didn't have a frontman like 'Bono or Chris Martin'.

The singer said in an interview with CNN that Oasis never really got anywhere in the American market but were more successful stateside than people give them credit for.

''I think unfortunately for us, and then, we got off on the wrong foot with America. Four tours in a row were either never started or never finished," he told the TV network.

"We didn't have a frontman like Bono or Chris Martin. We had a different kind of frontman who was like Johnny Rotten. But I don't think anybody in Oasis would look back it with any regret," he added.

''Not that I've got to justify it, but we did sell out the Hollywood Bowl and Madison Square Garden regularly. And I've got gold discs and platinum discs to prove it, Sonny Jim. You don't get that from selling records in Dagenham, let me tell you."

Gallagher announced last year that he would release his second solo project with Amorphous Androgynous in 2012.

However, he has now admitted that he wants to build on the success of his debut Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds before he moves on to the next project.
