American rapper Nas has revealed his initial reluctance to work on incomplete Amy Winehouse track, 'Like Smoke', which was released last year.
The rapper revealed in an interview at SXSW that he wanted to record a sequel to Amy's song 'Me And Mr. Jones' from 2007's “Back To Black” album. However, when Amy passed away last year, Nas reluctantly agreed to record a guest feature on the song 'Like Smoke' for her posthumous album 'Lioness' which was released December 2011.
Nas reveals: "Part of me didn't want to do the song. Amy and I share a birthday, so she was my sister... And she was just so much fun around.” In the exclusive interview, Nas also says: “We were all hoping that she would pull through and come back."
The tragic death of Amy Winehouse has recently made headlines again recently, after Amy's father Mitch stated that she could have been saved if she was more informed about drug use. Mitch says: “I wish that my daughter had had that kind of drug education when she was in her formative years... I think that if she had that eductaion there's a good chance that she would still be here today.”
Amy's parents have now set up the Amy Winehouse Foundation to provide care and support for financially disadvantaged or substance addicted youths. Mitch Winehouse says that he wants to save “future generations from a life of hell.”
